THE
APPAREL CATALOG

Fifty-six designs for interactive audio artists and the adjacent disciplines — sound designers, scoring people, field recordists, post-production engineers, and any craftsperson who has ever argued, in writing, about sample rate. Printed on demand on Bella+Canvas 3001 — the blank every studio merch department respects. Black only, because the decision was made and the decision has been made, and revisiting the decision would require a second meeting, and I, as the sole employee, do not wish to attend a second meeting.

// 01 — MILITARY & VETERAN / BATTLE-SCARRED
PPSC-TEE-001
Loudness War Veteran
Front: waveform ribbons / Back: "WE FOUGHT · WE CLIPPED · WE SURVIVED"
You were there. 2003–2014. The brickwalling. The limiters. The clients who said "louder." Black Canvas 3001, yellow-and-cyan ink. Available in black. There is no other color for this.
PPSC-TEE-002
Ship Week Survivor
Distressed dog-tag crest / mic insignia
For anyone who has slept under a desk during the final week. Dog-tag style front print with a blank for your launch date. You know the date. You're not forgetting the date.
PPSC-TEE-003
Hotfix Squadron
SWAT-style patch / crossed XLR + keyboard
"WE DROP WHEN THE SERVERS DO." For the team that ships a patch at 2am and tells nobody. You know who you are. The patch notes know. The users do not.
PPSC-TEE-004
Gold Master or Die Trying
Flag-raising silhouette / mic on the flagpole
A tribute to everyone who has ever uploaded a master build at 11:58pm on a Friday. The flag is a mic. The hill is a submission portal. The soldiers are very tired.
PPSC-TEE-005
Purple Heart: I Crashed the Build
Medal + git-hash ribbon
A commemorative medal for the engineer who merged at 4:47pm on a Friday. The ribbon is a git SHA. The SHA is the one. You know the one. The CTO remembers the one.
PPSC-TEE-006
Bravery Under Fire: Dialogue Pass, Night Before Master
Commendation certificate print
The dialogue director says "one more pass." The date is tomorrow. You say "no problem." You are lying. You are also going to do it. This shirt commemorates that lie.
PPSC-TEE-007
3:1 Battalion
"1st Compressor Regiment" military patch / ratio knob insignia
Three attack. One release. No survivors. A tribute to the compressor settings nobody questions. The ratio is the ratio. The threshold is the threshold. Make peace with this.
PPSC-TEE-008
Middleware Division
Dog tags: WWISE / FMOD / UNREAL AUDIO / UNITY
Every audio person has served in one. Some in all four. The dog tags are accurate to your career. Ted has worn all of these dog tags. Ted is tired.
PPSC-TEE-009
Polyphony Limited — Front Line Survivor
Back: "32 VOICES. THAT'S ALL WE GOT."
For the designers who remember when polyphony was a budget. "32 voices. That's all we got. We made it work." You made it work. You are a soldier. You still hear voice-stealing in your sleep.
PPSC-TEE-010
I Heard It. I Implemented It. I Shipped It.
Stenciled army-surplus type
The three-part oath of the game audio designer. Say it out loud. Say it at standup. Put it on the wall. It is the job. It is all of the job. Everything else is meetings.
// 02 — FAKE UNIONS / GUILDS / LABOR ORGS
PPSC-TEE-011
Game Audio Testers Union — Local 48
Crossed-XLR union crest / +48V tribute
Front: union crest. Back: "WE HEAR EVERYTHING / WE REPORT EVERYTHING." Local 48 because phantom power. The local number is the joke. The union is fake. The testers are real. The bugs are also real.
PPSC-TEE-012
SFX Artisans Guild
Medieval guild crest / celery, strop, gravel, Schoeps
A medieval guild for people who break celery in a closet. The crest contains the tools: a leather strop, a tray of gravel, a stalk of celery, a Schoeps CMC6. "ARS GRAVITAS" in a scroll below.
PPSC-TEE-013
Foley Artists Union — Local 1
Horseshoe + coconut shell + cloth flap heraldry
Local 1 because there is only one. Or there should be. The heraldry is the craft. The horseshoe is for hooves. The coconut is for the other hooves. The cloth flap is for the bird.
PPSC-TEE-014
Dialogue Editors Local 22
"MOUTH NOISE REMOVAL SPECIALIST"
The union for people who have listened to one actor breathe for nine hours. Waveform-mouth insignia. Specialist rank embroidered below. This job is 40% art and 60% not hearing lip smacks in your sleep.
PPSC-TEE-015
Int'l Brotherhood of Mix Bus Drivers
Trucker-union aesthetic
"YOU RIDE THE BUS, YOU FEED THE BUS." Fake Teamsters-style local for the person who gain-stages everything twice. Bus driver lapel patch. Chrome grille. Faders as mirrors.
PPSC-TEE-016
Sidechain Wardens Association
Police-union patch / ducking waveform
For the engineers who keep the kick clean. Badge has a ducking-waveform in place of a sheriff star. Jurisdiction: your mix bus. Subpoena power: the threshold knob.
PPSC-TEE-017
Dept. of Footsteps
Bureaucratic federal seal / "EVERY SURFACE CATALOGUED"
A fake federal bureau for the people who have opinions about concrete vs. gravel. Official seal. Classification stamp: "SURFACE-CONFIDENTIAL." A government we wish existed.
PPSC-TEE-018
Order of the Room Tone
Secret-society crest / "WE RECORDED THE SILENCE"
A secret society for people who held up a finger and said "wait, 30 seconds of room tone." Ouroboros made of waveforms eating a noise floor. Meets at ADR stages. No dues. No minutes.
// 03 — FAKE AWARDS & INDUSTRY RECOGNITION PARODY
PPSC-TEE-019
G.A.N.G. Awards — Unofficial Affiliate
"NOT NOMINATED AGAIN / 2017 · 2019 · 2021 · 2023"
The Game Audio Network Guild has never nominated you. This shirt commemorates that. Laurel wreath with crossed-out years. Four strikeouts. Five is a haiku. Six would be a pattern.
PPSC-TEE-020
D.I.C.E. Awards — My Plus-One Came
Tuxedo silhouette / plus-one pin
The spouse shirt. The "I supported someone who lost" shirt. The "free dinner at The Bellagio" shirt. Tuxedo silhouette, pin that says PLUS ONE. A graceful commemoration of adjacent glory.
PPSC-TEE-021
Lifetime Achievement in Reused Footsteps
Trophy / plaque date blank
The most honest lifetime achievement award in games. Trophy with a plaque. The plaque has a year. The year is every year. The footsteps are the same footsteps. The franchise disagrees.
PPSC-TEE-022
Best in Audio — Second Place, Local Game Jam
Bronze medal
Second place is a kind of glory. The game jam was small. The audio was great. The category had three entries. The ribbon still counts. The bronze medal is structurally a haiku.
PPSC-TEE-023
Sound Design Nominee (My Wife Said So)
Official seal / wife-endorsed
An embossed certificate of nomination, issued by your spouse, at dinner, because they meant it. The seal looks very official. The endorsement is the best endorsement you will receive. Wear it with pride.
PPSC-TEE-024
BAFTA Sound Design — Seated Near the Bar
Seating chart with an X
A seating chart. An X on your seat. The bar is close. The stage is far. The shirt is a tribute to proximity-to-snacks as a form of recognition. The bar is also an award.
// 04 — ABSURDIST AUDIO-ENGINEERING IN-JOKES
PPSC-TEE-025
I Can Hear the Limiter
Stick figure pointing at oscillating ceiling
The three-word flex. A stick figure. A ceiling that is ceiling. A brickwall. A tooltip says "it's clipping." You are the stick figure. The stick figure is you. The limiter is everyone.
PPSC-TEE-026
6 dB Per Doubling
Inverse-square-law textbook diagram
"PHYSICS REMAINS UNDEFEATED." Front: a textbook illustration of sound pressure level over distance. Back: the equation. The equation is correct. The equation has always been correct. Move the mic closer.
PPSC-TEE-027
Dead Mic Walking
Flatlined EQ curve / toe tag
A fallen condenser. A toe tag with a serial number. A flat line across the EQ. A tribute to the mic that finally gave up. The mic is dead. The session must go on. We borrow a 57. The 57 is eternal.
PPSC-TEE-028
Pin 2 Hot
Exploded XLR pinout diagram
The most correct two-word sentence in pro audio. Exploded-view XLR diagram, pin 2 on fire (literally). Everyone who gets it gets it instantly. Everyone who doesn't will ask. You will explain.
PPSC-TEE-029
Gain Stage, Late Stage
Five stages of grief, relabeled
Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depression. Unity gain. The five stages of every session. Bargaining is with the drummer. Unity gain is acceptance. Unity gain is also the correct answer.
PPSC-TEE-030
My DAW Crashed During the Take
Trauma-core / handprint silhouette
The saddest five words in audio. A handprint on the monitor. A loading spinner that never loaded. A tribute to autosave being off. A tribute to the take that cannot be re-recorded. A requiem.
PPSC-TEE-031
Warning: Contains Audible Compression
Hazmat diamond / yellow ink only
A hazmat warning for mastering engineers. The diamond is yellow. The text is stenciled. The compression is pumping. Everyone can hear it. Nobody will say it. Except you. You said it first.
PPSC-TEE-032
I Fixed It in Post
Holographic-style "approved" seal
The four-word promise audio designers keep and do not keep. Holographic seal. The seal says APPROVED. You approved it. You fixed it. Nobody will ever know. Except your noise floor.
PPSC-TEE-033
Room Tone Ranger
National-park ranger patch / acoustic panel mountains
A national park ranger for the ADR stage. Patch shows a mountain range made of acoustic foam. Motto: "LEAVE NO SOUND UNRECORDED." Hat optional. Clipboard required. Silence achieved.
PPSC-TEE-034
808 · 909 · 727
"The forgotten middle child"
The 727 is crying. The 808 is famous. The 909 is beloved. The 727 exists. It is a Latin percussion machine. It is underused. It is magnificent. It is the middle child. This shirt acknowledges it.
// 05 — INTERACTIVE AUDIO · TOOLS & TERRITORIES
PPSC-TEE-035
Wwise Certified & Emotionally Unstable
Certification badge style
The two statuses are correlated. The badge is official-looking but unofficial. The certification is real. The emotional instability is also real. Wwise did not sponsor this shirt. Wwise did not respond.
PPSC-TEE-036
FMOD Studio Saint
Icon halo treatment
The canonized engineer. Halo. Serene expression. Parameter sheets fluttering behind like doves. Patron saint of the event-driven. Prays to the event-driven. The event drives them.
PPSC-TEE-037
Meta Sound Cultist
Unreal 5 geometric ritual sigil
Node-graph sigil. Ritual geometry. The cult is real. The MetaSounds are real. The initiation is a tutorial. The Kool-Aid is a sample rate argument. We are all MetaSound Cultists now.
PPSC-TEE-038
"Yes, I Wrote the Interactive Stinger System"
Name-tag style / direct quote
The most specific flex in games. Front: a "HELLO MY NAME IS" name tag, filled in with this exact sentence. The stinger system is yours. It is the best stinger system. It was never documented.
PPSC-TEE-039
"No, the Footsteps Aren't In Yet"
Support-ticket template as design
The sentence you have said 400 times. Now on a shirt. Front: a bug-tracker ticket template, priority P2, assignee YOU, status IN PROGRESS, ETA EOD. The ETA is aspirational. The ticket is eternal.
PPSC-TEE-040
"The Footsteps Are Now In"
Victory banner / companion to TEE-039
The companion shirt. The banner of triumph. The ticket status: CLOSED · FIXED · VERIFIED. Sold as a bundle with TEE-039 for $58 because the arc is the product. The arc is the job. The arc is everything.
// 06 — FALLEN STUDIOS · CONCERT PARODIES · IN MEMORIAM

All parody / fan tribute. No real studio logos. Each shirt prints PARODY · FAN TRIBUTE · NO AFFILIATION at the hem as a legal moat. If your studio is gone and I missed it, email me. I'll add it.

PPSC-TEE-041
First Chair · A.I.R. Guitar
Chamber-orchestra concert program
Phantom Power Symphony. The conductor is listed. The first chair is air guitar. The chair is empty because the guitarist is airborne. A tribute to the legitimacy of shredding nothing. Printed program art, gold ink accents on black.
PPSC-TEE-042
Games Live! Tour · 2007–2012 Survivor
Back: 24 mock tour dates, one crossed out

They made sounds for a game you never heard. Varsity letterman crest, memorial framing. Small hem text: "PARODY · FAN TRIBUTE · NO AFFILIATION." A shirt for the audio people who pour one out for studios that got closed before the world got to hear them.
PPSC-TEE-044
Highguard Music Division · Anthem · In Memoriam
Stylized javelin insignia / 2012–2024
"WE TUNED THE FLIGHT, YOU JUST FLEW IT." Varsity crest with a stylized javelin silhouette. Tribute to the Austin audio team behind Anthem, a beautiful score attached to a game nobody could save. Memorial framing. Parody/tribute hem print.
PPSC-TEE-045
Bluepoint Audio · Remastering Division
Letterman-jacket style / not a memorial (they're fine)
"EMOTIONAL REMASTERS SINCE 2006." Back: a list of years, no titles. Audio people will know. For the studio that takes old PlayStation things and makes them hit harder than they ever did originally. Tribute, not parody. Careful framing — no logo.
PPSC-TEE-046
LucasArts Sound Dept. · 1982–2013
30-year memorial / iMUSE wave-bars
"THE GROG WAS INTERACTIVE · THE SCORE WAS BRANCHING · THE MEETINGS WERE REAL." Parody crest riffing on iMUSE's wave-bars. A shirt for anyone who had an opinion about adaptive music before the industry called it that.
PPSC-TEE-047
Visceral Games Audio · Dead Space Section
Horror-serif / 2008–2017
Negative-space mic that reads as a severed limb. Ragged horror-movie serif. A memorial to the audio team that invented a whole language of fear with ambience and silence. Hem: PARODY · FAN TRIBUTE · NO AFFILIATION.
PPSC-TEE-048
Ensemble Studios Audio · 1995–2009
RTS crest / classic Microsoft-era serif

PPSC-TEE-049
Telltale Games Audio · 2004–2018
Branching dialogue tree crest

PPSC-TEE-050
Irrational Games · BioShock Audio Section
Art-deco crest / 2002–2014
"WOULD YOU KINDLY RECORD ONE MORE SCREAM." A tribute to the audio team that made a failed underwater utopia sound more alive than most real cities. Art-deco tribute crest. The music box remains. The ocean remains. The studio does not.
PPSC-TEE-051
Looking Glass Studios Audio · 1990–2000
Thief / System Shock / Ultima Underworld
"THE GLASS WAS LOOKING BACK." Tribute to the studio that invented immersive-sim audio by hiding a cue behind every column and teaching an entire generation of designers what "occlusion" meant in practice.
PPSC-TEE-052
Westwood Studios Music Division · 1985–2003
C&C, Blade Runner, Dune II
"ACKNOWLEDGED." Tribute to the studio that gave us the iconic unit-acknowledge barks and the RTS musical language the genre never outgrew. Parody crest only. Music division memorial. Commanders still salute.
PPSC-TEE-053
Psygnosis Music Dept. · 1984–2012
Wipeout soundtrack & 16-bit wizardry
"WIPEOUT WAS THE ENTIRE POINT." Tribute to the UK studio whose audio team turned a racing game into a licensed electronica compilation and turned the PS1 into a boom box. The logo owl is not on this tee. That would be infringement. The owl knows.
PPSC-TEE-054
Maxis Emeryville Audio · 1987–2015
SimCity · The Sims · Spore
"WE HAD A WHOLE ECOSYSTEM AND THEN WE DIDN'T." Tribute to the studio that invented simlish, scored a thousand simulated lives, and generated a planet's worth of procedural animal noises before EA consolidated it into memory.

STUDIO
OBJECTS

PPSC-003-A

PPSC-003-B
Round Robin Dice Set
7-Piece / Audio RPG
d4: RR variation. d6: mic placement. d8: reverb algorithm. d10: sample rate. d12: preamp brand. d20: velocity. d%: did the take. The game is real.

COLLAB
DROPS

PPSC-KBD-001
KBD Trio × PPSC Split Tee
Keys / Bass / Drums / +48V
Left half: KBD Trio. Right half: Phantom Power Supply Co. A garment divided against itself, like a stereo field with no mono compatibility. Ships with a card that says "CHECK THE MONO." Nothing else on the card. That's the whole card.
PPSC-CEDAR-001
PPSC × The Cedar Tree Behind the Studio
An Unprompted Collaboration
We did not ask the tree. The tree did not respond. Nevertheless the tee features a silhouette of the exact cedar tree that is outside Ted's studio window, which has (by his informed estimation) absorbed 640 hours of mixing and contributed nothing. That's not a complaint. That is, in fact, the job of a cedar tree.
PPSC-TRITON-001
PPSC × Your Old Korg Triton
For the one you kept "just in case"
A tribute to the hardware sitting in your closet that you will not sell, will not sample, and will not boot up, but which you also will not get rid of. The Triton does not know about this tee. The Triton, in all other respects, is fine. Ships with a backup MIDI cable you didn't ask for.
PPSC-3AM-001
PPSC × The 3:00 AM Idea You Didn't Write Down
Blank Tee / Small Interior Tag
Literally a Canvas black tee. No front print. No back print. The only marking is a tag on the inside collar that reads, in 6-point type: "IT WAS BETTER." A memorial to the idea. A tribute to the idea. A perpetual reminder of the idea. You will not remember the idea. That is the point of the tee.

TED
VS. EVERYONE ELSE

A long-form argument about audio formats was scheduled. Ted prepared 14 bullet points. Opposing counsel did not appear. What follows is the official record of that hearing.

TED
POSITION: AIFF · CORRECT · DOCUMENTED
  • Native Mac format since 1988. Older than most working engineers.
  • Superior metadata embedding. This is not debatable.
  • Loop point storage in header. Beautiful. Elegant.
  • The chunk header is real. The chunk header matters. Anyone who says otherwise has not read it.
  • Logic Pro prefers AIFF, quietly, with Protestant restraint.
  • The Cormorant Garamond of audio formats.
  • Every SoundFont you love was probably AIFF internally at some point. Think about that.
  • The extension is four letters long. Dignified.
  • I am willing to die on this hill. I have chosen the hill. The hill has been surveyed.
VS
EVERYONE ELSE
POSITION: WAV, PROBABLY? · DID NOT ATTEND
  • "We don't really think about it that much."
  • "WAV is fine?"
  • "I have a deadline."
  • — no further submissions —
  • [Rebuttal on chunk headers]
  • [Rebuttal on metadata]
  • [Rebuttal on loop points]
  • [Rebuttal on literally anything]
OFFICIAL VERDICT: The debate has been won by default. Opposing counsel forfeited by absence, by indifference, and by saying things like "I really just pick whatever my DAW defaults to." The chunk header remains the chunk header. The AIFF is the AIFF. Ted moves for summary judgment. Summary judgment has been granted. By Ted. To Ted. Ted is, it must be said, the only judge present.

WHO I
AM

Phantom Power Supply Co. is a solo operation run out of a Dolby Atmos studio in Traverse City, Michigan, by one (1) audio designer who spent seventeen years at PlayStation Studios and somewhere around year fourteen started compulsively designing fake products for imagined audio professionals who never bought them because, tragically, they were imagined.

Then one day the fake products became real products. That day was a Tuesday. I do not remember which Tuesday. I printed a t-shirt. The t-shirt said LOUDNESS WAR VETERAN. I put it on. I looked in the mirror. I thought, yes. Then I thought, more. This site is the "more."

This is not a brand. This is a solo venture with an implied R&D department, a fictional Legal Division, and a genuine cedar tree. The cedar tree is not paid. The Legal Division is not real. The R&D Division is also me. It's me downstairs.

"Professional-grade goods for the terminally geared. Manufactured by one person. Approved by no one. Worn by those who know."
